RUBRIC FOR THERAPY REVIEW PAPER

Core Content Rubric (23 points total)

1. _____In the introduction of the paper, the student has written an interesting (attention-getting) paragraph which tells the reader what the paper is about. 0-2 points. 2._____The student has demonstrated an effective understanding of how change occurs for clients based on the therapy selected. This includes a discussion of how clients develop mental health issues (2 points), how clients can improve through therapy (2 points), and how a mental health professional can promote client growth (2 points). 0 -6 points. 3. _____The student has provided an effective/thoughtful discussion of the therapy model selected using two appropriate theoretical concepts from the corresponding therapy. This includes correct definitions for each concept (1.5 points per concept, 3 points total) and a description for each concept of how it can be used to conceptualize a clients thoughts, feelings, and actions (1.5 points per description, 3 points total). 0-6 points. 4. _____The student has provided an effective/thoughtful critique of the therapy that identifies one strength in helping a client to work through their presenting concerns (2 points total) and one weakness that might make it more difficult for a client to work on their presenting concerns (2 points total) of this approach. 0 -4 points. 5. _____The student has provided a thoughtful discussion on why they chose the selected therapy for review. 0 3 points. 6. _____The student has demonstrated a thoughtful reflection/conclusion of the material presented. 0-2 points.

1._____The paper is typed, double-spaced, 12-point font with 1-inch margins all around. 0-1 points. 2._____The student has avoided plagiarism by citing within-text information correctly, using APA 7th format. A reference page is included with citations listed in proper APA 7th ed. format. 0-1 points. 3._____The student has edited for correct punctuation. The student has avoided comma splices, run-on sentences, and inappropriate fragments. 0-1 points. 4._____The word choice (diction, vocabulary) is appropriate for the assignments purpose. Also, the student has eliminated spelling errors and problems with capitalization. 0-1 points. 5._____The body of the paper is 2 pages in length, plus a title page and reference page (4 pages total). 0-2 points.

Timeliness (1 point)

1._____The student has uploaded the paper in its complete version by the deadline described in the syllabus/class in class or on Titanium (if revised date was announced). 0 -1 points.
