You will need to write a 5 page double spaced essay that refers to the class lectures/slides and the readings to answer the following question:
Q: 1. Identify and discuss two of the most important themes of the history of technology that youve seen throughout lectures 1-3 (you can include week 4 material if you would like and have had time to go over it). Technological “themes” for our purposes include types of technology such as agricultural, hydraulic (water), transportation, military/defense, energy tech, etc. Please do not simply list two important technologies here, the point is to get you to think about how you might group some of technologies we have covered together, and which grouping you find most important. Please watch the 2nd half of lecture 3 for more specifics on essay strategies.
2. You must refer to at least two different time periods (lectures) in your discussion of themes. You can use examples that I gave in lectures and asked you to pay attention to, or ones that are provided in the reading, but feel free to come up with your own as well.
3. As you discuss these themes you should also advance an argument for why you believe these two themes are more significant than other possible concepts that we covered.

1. Do you refer to at least two time periods when you discuss your themes?
2. Do you identify and discuss two important themes in the history of technology?
3. Do you cite evidence from either the lectures and/or other course materials (at least two citations, but good papers often have more) to support your arguments?
Citations can be from reading materials for the class, videos, or my lectures, I go over in more detail how to cite these, but you can use whatever style guide your major uses OR a simple (author last name, page number), You don’t need to go crazy and cite every other line, but papers need at least 2 citations, and good “A” papers often have more.
4. Is your paper at least 5 pages double spaced size 12 font (Times New Roman or another legible font)?
