  • Footnote and Bibliography Format Paper Assignment

Footnote and Bibliography Format Paper Assignment Instructions

    Overview

This assignment is designed to introduce you to the Liberty online library as well as the process of locating, integrating, and citing academic sources in proper footnote and bibliographic formats. This assignment will also prepare you for the Comparing and Contrasting Models Paper Assignment, which is a research-based comparative analysis of the attractional and missional church models. These models are introduced in this weeks reading, but you are being tasked with locating supplemental sources that also speak to these models because this is necessary for academic research at the doctoral level.

    Instructions

For this assignment, you will provide 17 unique resources in proper Turabian footnote and bibliographic form, along with a quote from each source. (Note: Do not use the date-first Turabian style but utilize the style with the publication year near the end of the reference.)

    For the paper itself,

Provide a properly formatted cover page and contents page.

Provide an introductory paragraph that introduces the existence of the attractional and missional church models and presents a thesis statement. In this paragraph, the student should also explain the mission of the church and how different church models have evolved over time. The student should specifically mention the attraction and missional models while providing a clear thesis statement that an analysis will be provided regarding which model contains the most biblical objectives. (Note: you did this for the School of Divinity Formatting Standards Paper Assignment. Take that introduction and edit it based on the comments and feedback you received. Also, note that this introduction will not mention the sources or the rest of the paper for this week, but is refining the basis of the introduction you will use for your Comparing and Contrasting Models Paper Assignment.)

Provide a bold heading for each of the 17 sources utilized for a paper.

Under each heading, include a quote from the selected source, and then provide a footnote citing that source in precise Turabian formatting style.

Provide a bibliography with each of the 17 sources cited in precise Turabian formatting style in alphabetical order by last name.

Here are the 17 source types that must be included in the paper:

2 Dissertations or Theses interacting with the Attractional Church. (Utilizing the dissertation database through the Jerry Falwell Library will help.)

2 Dissertations or Theses interacting with the Missional Church.

5 Academic Journal Articles interacting with the issues related to missional or attractional church approaches.

5 Books interacting with the issues related to missional or attractional church approaches.

A scholarly Commentary on Acts, Ephesians, and 1 Timothy. Thus, you will have three separate commentaries here. One for each of those books. The commentary selected can cover multiple books of the Bible, but one of these books must be present in the title for each citation. Do not cite a commentary that covers the entire Bible in one or two volumes. A scholarly commentary will extensively address a particular passage and extensively cite other sources. A scholarly commentary is different than a devotional commentary or one that reduplicates the author’s sermons.

All formatting must follow current Turabian style standards precisely. Be sure to utilize the Turabian Chart of Citations provided in the assignment link as well as other resources available through the Online Writing Center (linked in the Footnote and Bibliography Format Paper Resources section).

The assignment will be strictly graded based on the quality of the sources selected, the accuracy of the formatting provided, and the quality of the introduction and the thesis.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

  • Criminology theory draft

You will write an essay that will demonstrate both your critical thinking skills, and your understanding of one theoretical perspective. By semesters end the course you will have explored a variety of theories that seek to explain the onset and continuation (or desistance) of criminal behavior. You will have learned that none of these perspectives can explain crime in every situation therefore there is no one ideal explanation of crime. Each of these approaches comes with their own policy implications and suggestions for how to reduce crime and deal with offenders to reduce future criminality. In formal essay format (with an introduction and a conclusion), you will use a case study provided by the instructor to explore what you believe the best theoretical approach is to explain the crimes engaged in by the offender in the case study. Each of these approaches come with their own policy implications and suggestions for how to reduce crime and deal with offenders to reduce future criminality.

Draft #1 must be a minimum of 1000 words (Due March 8th, and Draft #2 (Due toward the end of the semester) must be a minimum of 2000 words. The theoretical application essay exceeds the recommended 2000 word writing requirement of a General Education course.

This section of the course will utilize the case study of RED THE MARTYR (a sex offender) to explore what you believe the best theoretical approach is to explain the crimes engaged in by the offender in the article.

You must demonstrate that you have read the article in its entirety . . . the use of examples (cited appropriately) is perhaps the most efficient way to accomplish this task.

    Points to guide your paper:

    • You will need to elaborate/summarize the main tenets/points of the theoretical perspective you have chosen (rational choice theory; trait theory; social structure theory; social process theory; developmental theory; social conflict theory)
    • You must integrate the criminal behaviors discussed in the article using your chosen theory
    • You must elaborate why the theory you have chosen provides the best explanation
    • From a policy perspective, discuss at least ONE way in which this type of criminality might be deterred (this recommendation must be consistent with the theoretical approach you have chosen)

To be clear: in your paper you are to use only ONE theory to explain the offense elaborated in the case study. For example, ONE specific branch of biological theory . . . do NOT explain how each branch of biological theory could explains the case study.

Your applying theory essay Draft #1 must be at least 1000 words in length, double spaced, in Times New Roman 12-point font, using one-inch margins, and appropriate citations included using the APA 7th edition citation system. Upload a WORD document only.

Your writing assignment will be graded by the attached grading rubric. Your DRAFT work must be a minimum of 4-6 pages and contain at least 1000 words. Your cover page and reference page do not count toward your page count. Ensure you have the enough (ranging from 5-10) references aside from your textbook. • Environmental Biology Photo Gallery

No matter where we are on Earth, we are surrounded by nature and intriguing life forms. Even in a suburban or urban environment, if we look closely and carefully, we can see nature emerging just about everywhere. On Prince Georges Community College’s Largo campus earlier this year, I saw a praying mantis insect stalking its prey, which illustrated predator and prey relationships and food chain interactions. As I walked across campus, I saw the beautiful leaves of oak trees changing colors, which relates to photosynthetic pigments and leaf decomposition. I even saw a crow eating a French fry, which could illustrate scavengers, food chains, or even humans being careless with their waste! Even indoors, we can find connections to environmental biology. A houseplant provides oxygen during the process of photosynthesis, and filters the air of pollutants. A jar of tomatoes has a lining made of BPA (bisphenol-A), an endocrine disrupting chemical. A person working from home uses printer paper made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper, which reduces tree removal and deforestation. Your photo gallery assignment is to document nature and environmental biology in the world around you through photography. You can use a camera, or your smart phone, to take photos of subjects that relate to topics we have covered in Unit 1 of Environmental Biology: Introduction to Environmental Biology Food Chains and Food Webs; Energy Transfer and Bioaccumulation Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration The Carbon Cycle and Global Climate Change You will use the discussion board toolbar to upload 2 photos that relate to the topics above. Each photo should include a description of your photo and an explanation of how it relates to the topic(s) covered in this course. Each description/explanation should be at least 5-7 sentences. Module Learning Objective Alignment: 1.1-3.6 Guidelines Submit your initial post by the due date. Post two photos related to Unit 1 of Environmental Biology, complete with a description and explanation. Each photo should be fully and thoughtfully described and explained with a paragraph of at least 5-7 sentences. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by the end of the module. Your responses should be thoughtful and add new information, not just “I agree,” or “I like that.” You can comment on the photo itself, the explanation, or even pose a question to the original poster. The photos should be original photos that you have taken. Photos and descriptions should not be generated using AI or other means (Google search).
