  • Forum: Week 6 Discussion: Excel and Linear Regression

In this discussion we will practice using Excel to analyze data.

For your last name group listed below, download data in the associated spreadsheet.

    • Group#1 Your last name starts with letter A E
    • Group#2 Your last name starts with letter F L
    • Group#3 Your last name starts with letter M S
    • Group#4 Your last name starts with letter T Z
    1. For your initial Post:
      1. Create a scatterplot with the linear regression equation displayed within Excel. State what the regression equation is within your written post.
      2. Define your input and output variables. What do each of the variables in your equation represent in the context of this scenario?
      3. State the value of the correlation coefficient (round to four decimal places). Interpret the meaning of this value within the context of this scenario.
      4. State the value of the coefficient of determination (round to four decimal places). Interpret the meaning of this value within the context of this scenario.
      5. State the interval of ages for which this linear regression equation is appropriate.
      6. Attach your Excel file to your post. Be sure that all required work is written in the text box for the discussion post.

    Requirements: just answer A-F

  • Pediatric antibiotic prescribing and medication instructions

After reading the scenario, answer the following questions and fill out an appropriate prescription. Scenario: Lucy is a 2 12 year old healthy child, weighing 13kg, who presents to her primary care provider nurse practitioners office with chief complaint of cough, fatigue, and fever for the last 3 days. No respiratory distress. Lucy attends daycare and has older siblings. She is up-to-date with all vaccinations. She is not on any medications other than as-needed acetaminophen and ibuprofen, which her caregivers have been giving for fever. Amoxicillin is recorded as an allergy. When you inquire about her allergic reaction to the amoxicillin, Lucys caregivers report last time she took it, she developed a maculopapular rash that onset about one week after taking the amoxicillin. She never had any airway compromise or edema, and the rash self-resolved after about five days. You diagnose Lucy with bacterial community-acquired pneumonia, and determine that antimicrobial treatment is indicated. Please answer the following question prompts about your care plan for pharmacologic treatment for Lucy, and fill out the below sample prescription pad. Please include citations for all of your answers. Questions: Which antibiotic will you prescribe today, and why? Please include dose, frequency, and duration. As noted above, Lucys caregivers have been giving her prn acetaminophen and ibuprofen for fever. Yin et al (2021) found that up to half of parents made dosing measurement errors when administering liquid medications to their children. You are therefore always mindful to give very specific instructions for all of your pediatric patients, to help keep them safe. Please fill out the below instructions: Ibuprofen: Use __mg/___mL formulation. Please give____ mL (which is __mg) every ____ hours as needed for fever Do not exceed ____mL (which is ____mg) in 24 hours Acetaminophen: Use __mg/___mL formulation. Please give____ mL (which is __mg) every ____ hours as needed for fever Do not exceed ____mL (which is ____mg) in 24 hours 3. How will you monitor Lucys response to treatment? 4. What major side effects will you monitor for? 5. What teaching points should you review with Lucys caregivers today, including common side effects? 6. Completely fill out the prescription for your patient. Patients Name: DOB: Medication: Sig: Dispense: # Refill: # May substitute generic equivalent if available: Yes No Prescriber Information: Prescriber Name & Title: Address/Phone #: NPI & DEA number: XXXXXXX (you will receive an NPI when you become licensed, and will apply for a DEA license number if desired). *** Note: May need to include your collaborating physician’s name and credentials depending on state law and state practice act*** * Note: You may include fictional patient information as needed if it is not provided in the scenario.

    Assignment Overview

Students will read the required chapters for the week before responding to this discussion board. After the chapters have been reviewed, students will develop a 3-slide PowerPoint that highlights what they feel were the most important aspects of each chapter (1 slide per chapter). Content in the slide should be brief (bullet points or short sentences). The discussion board post will also include a 3-paragraph explanation of why the content was selected for each slide. Why was the information selected important to you? What were your key areas of learning for each chapter? What additional information or questions do you have about working with these specialty populations or in private practice?

Some of the specialty population I am interested in working in is with trauma, children/adolescents, families, military/veterans and private practice treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and stress.

In the Week 3 assignment, you identified and analyzed a specific developmental theory to apply to a case study from a chosen film. In this assignment, you will build on the work you have done by analyzing ecological systems theory and deciding on an actual application from a person-in-environment perspective. As with last time, it is vital to support the application of your chosen theory with scholarly research in the Capella library.

The following resources may be useful as you research and write your assignment:
