    Treat a Skin Cancer Patient Assignment:

    Background:

    • You are working as a nurse (or medical technician) in an office that performs Mohs surgery.
    • Your patient is a female, Caucasian with green eyes and blonde hair. (The photograph on the previous page may help you imagine your patient).
    • She is under 40 years old and has basal cell carcinoma on the middle of her zygomatic (cheek) bone.
    • She grew up in a town near the beach, and she had frequent sunburns during childhood.
    • She is scheduled to have a Mohs surgery performed today in order to remove the basal cell carcinoma.
    • Your job is to greet her, prepare her for the surgery, and schedule a follow up for her stitches to be removed.

    Part 1:Write a summary of what you would say to greet your patient, briefly describe the Mohs surgery, and then schedule a follow up (as outlined below). You can use your Medical Terminology (Wingerd, 2019) text as well as the references to the Skin Cancer Foundation (2016) listed in the background information for this assignment.
