FILM REVIEW PROMPT: How do you know if you are imprisoned in an ideological cave? (600-800 words)
The filmmaker argues that todays corporation has achieved extraordinary power and influence over our lives. In this paper, focus on the role the corporation plays in the individuals efforts to discern the truth about reality. Use the following questions to guide your writing:
1. What evidence is presented in the film that the corporations influence is controlling peoples thinking? Include at least three reasons presented in the film for the view that the corporation has got the public in a cave believing the shadows it projects are the truth about reality.
2. What evidence is presented in the film that people can make truth-informed choices, beyond corporate thought control? Include at least two examples from the film that show individuals can think critically based on the truth and make good decisions, i.e. get out of the cave of corporate manipulation.
3. Make your case: Considering the evidence presented above along with your own experience, argue for or against the claim: people can overcome corporate ideology and get at the truth. If you are for the claim, say HOW it can be overcome. If you are against the claim, explain WHY there is no hope.
