Organization Studies: Walmart Vs. Brookshires in Magnolia, Arkansas
Students will write papers detailing their studies of organizations. The papers will be double-spaced, minimum of 12 pages in length, not including cover, table of contents, and bibliography (15 pages total).
Students in MGMT 6013 will select two companies that operate in the same industry or similar industries and conduct studies comparing and contrasting the management structures, cultures, and personnel practices of those companies.
Information will come from a combination of library research and interviews with company managers or authorized employees. Papers will be formatted according to the specifications of the APA Style Guide. Wikipedia is not an acceptable source of information! YOU MUST CONDUCT INTERVIEWS FOR PROJECT!
Project Format:
I. Introduction: This section describes the companies chosen for the study and the industry they compete in.
II. Organization Study 1: This section describes the first organization studied.
III. Organization Study 2: This section describes the second organization studied.
IV. Comparison: This section compares and contrasts the two organizations studied. It what ways do the organizations differ and what factors led to those differences? What may be learned from the study of these differences? Which approach does the researcher prefer and why?
V. References: Lists interviewees and written sources used in the study.
