Understanding your learning style is a critical step in understanding how you lead. Howard Gardners theory of Multiple Intelligences reminds us that people process information, communicate, and solve problems in different waysand these differences directly influence how we interact with others, make decisions, and guide teams.

This assignment invites you to reflect on your own learning style and examine how it shapes your leadership approach, communication strategies, and personal development. Recognizing the connection between how you learn and how you lead is essential to becoming a more effective, self-aware leader.


Assignment Instructions:

  1. Complete Leaders Self-Insight 1.1 from the course text (The Leadership Experience by Richard Daft).
    This assessment will help you identify your preferred learning style.
  2. Once youve completed the assessment, write a 2-page, double-spaced paperthat addresses the following:
    • Identify and describe your learning style.
    • Explain how your learning style influences your leadership characteristics, including how you communicate, motivate others, make decisions, and solve problems.
    • Draw connections to Gardners Multiple Intelligences Theory, and reflect on how your dominant intelligences show up in your leadership approach.
  3. Include specific examples from your experiences that demonstrate how your learning style shows up in leadership situations (academic, professional, or personal).

Submission Requirements:

Two full pages, double-spaced (not including title page)
Include a title page that follows the formatting guidelines outlined in the course syllabus
Clear organization, thoughtful reflection, and connection to course concepts (learning styles + multiple intelligences + leadership)
