Methods of Social Research (SOCI-398-OL-31414)

Before responding in this forum, watch the following video on an experiment done by psychologist Phillip Zimbardo. Fair warning, it has some vulgar language and some moderately violent scenes.

Based on what you see in the video, which of the five ethical dimensions did he violate with his research? As a reminder, these include: confidentiality/privacy, avoid harm, consent, avoid deception, and coercion. You can pick more than one. Explain why you think he violated that dimension using examples from the video.

When responding to a classmate, I want you to suggest ways in which the experiment could have been improved to make it more ethical. It might not be possible to make it fully ethical, but it certainly could be better.
