There are many challenges and risks in healthcare that affect clinical care and/or business continuity in your context. After reading and watching the videos for module 1 and module 2, it is time to reflect on how they apply to real-life examples.
- Reflect on a risk problem in healthcare from your workplace, experience as a consumer, or the health sector you are familiar with. Describe the problem briefly to explain the context of the issues causing the risk. Use any of the 6 dimensions of the Institute of Medicine’s quality framework that are relevant (you do not have to cover all 6) to explain why it is a problem.
- Apply the appropriate principles of risk assessment from the ISO 31000:2018 risk management process (ie. identify, analyse and evaluate the risk) for your chosen problem, and choose a treatment/solution strategy (what you are going to do about the risk level you have assessed) that applies to your situation. Evaluate the ongoing risks (once you have put the ‘treatment’ in place) and comment on how they might affect clinical care and/or business continuity in your context.
- This activity is graded and is an essential part of your learning. Your tutor will review your submission, and you will receive specific feedback.
- Your first post should be 700 words.
- You should include cited resources to support your argument.
- Once you have posted, you can read the other students’ posts so you can respond to at least two of your peers’ posts using another 275 words in each response (550 words total).
In this assessment, you will contribute one (1) initial discussion post and respond to two (2).

- Critically address the discussion forum prompts, thereby demonstrating your understanding of the question and the content of the subject (50%)

- Support and defend your responses with appropriate academic references and presentation (20%)
