Project charter

Based on the assignment from Module 3 based on estimating the resources for

constructing a DIY Brick oven, create a Project Charter. I recommend that you

download and use this Project Charter Template

to complete the assignment. Your charter will serve as the foundational document

authorizing the pizza oven project and providing a clear overview of expectations and

deliverables.

Step 1: Project Information

Complete basic details:

o Project Name: You could come up with a cool name which you like for this

project

o Project Number: Create a suitable project number.

o Project Manager: Your name.

o Project Sponsor: Name the restaurant manager or owner commissioning

the oven.

Step 2: Proposed Project Summary

Clearly define:

Project: Briefly describe the outdoor brick pizza oven project.

Objective: Specify the tangible product (e.g., a fully functional, aesthetically

pleasing outdoor brick pizza oven).

Outcome: Clearly articulate the business value, e.g., enhanced customer

experience, increased restaurant appeal, or improved service efficiency.

Related Strategy: Describe how this aligns with your companys business

strategy, such as growth, customer satisfaction, or brand positioning.

Step 3: Proposed Project Details

Project Details: Outline what the pizza oven project will accomplish, including

detailed elements of the oven (foundation, base, capstone, fire arch, dome, and

veneer).

Measures of Success: Clearly define success criteria (timely completion,

adherence to budget, customer satisfaction, structural quality).

Constraints: List key constraints (budget limits, specific materials required,

deadlines, site restrictions).

Operational Impacts: Describe how the project will impact PizzaCrafts

operations (construction impacts, changes in service, training needs).

Step 4: Expected Schedule

Provide a high-level timeline using your previously created WBS, defining approximate

start and end dates for key deliverables such as:

Site preparation and foundation work

Base and capstone construction

Oven hearth and fire arch construction

Dome construction and insulation

Final veneer and project closeout

Step 5: Expected Effort

Outline the estimated human resource requirements (man-hours or resource effort),

based on the detailed tasks provided.

Step 6: Expected Costs

Provide high-level estimated costs using categories such as:

Materials (concrete, fire bricks, mortar, etc.)

Labor (specialists, general workers)

Equipment rentals or purchases (wheelbarrow, saw, tools)

Step 7: Approval

Prepare the approval section with the sponsors name, including a signature line and

date for official approval to formally initiate the project.
