CDFR 301 – PARENT EDUCATION

MONTHLY ASSIGNMENTS:

Each week students in CDFR 301 (Parent Education) are required to submit a weekly summary of the chapters below by Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and you are required to present your Summary of the Week’s Readings in the form of a summary of (2-3) slides in a PPT. They are due each month with a summary or PPT. that must be submitted each week.

The Assignments are listed below and the dates below should be adhered to accordingly.

Month # 1: Assignment #1: Find students at GSU who you know who are student parents and ask them if they have taken the student parent questionnaire. Gather a list of names, majors and emails of the student parents you talk with and submit their names in the link below.

All students are to read Chapters 1, 2, and 3 and be prepared to submit your PPT. (2-3 slides per chapter) Due: Thursday, January 29, 2026 @ 11;59 p.m.

In each File Section in Canvas you will find the PPTs. for each chapter and be sure to review the chapters each week as you will be graded on them during the Mid-Term and Final Exams. The exams will come straight from your work in the course and from the readings in each chapter.

Month # 2: Assignment #2:

Everyone in the course is to read Chapters 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 for this week and be prepared to submit your summary or PPTs. Due on Thursday, February 26, 2026 @ 11:59 p.m.

Month 3: Assignment #3:

READ Chapters 9, 10, 11 & 12 and be ready to present a group project and submit and create TIPS: EARLY LITERACY TIPS FOR PARENTS or a BROCHURE for THE GSU NURSERY SCHOOL. (Imagine that we have a GSU Parenting Resource and Research Center). Thursday, March 26, 2026 @ 11:59 p.m.

Use the days ahead to read each chapter and become familiar with your work.

Mont4 4: Assignment #4:

Present and a Summary of TIPS FOR PARENTS on a topic that you are interested in that support parents. Due: Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The Last Day of Classes is: Friday, May 1, 2026.
