Assignment Details

This Signature Assignment in the nursing program is an essential evaluation component that focuses on demonstrating your achievement of the course and program objectives related to this course. It requires applying multiple domains/competencies from the AACN Essentials (e.g., knowledge for APRN practice, person-centered care, population health, scholarship) in a real or realistic nursing context.

You are expected to synthesize your clinical experience in this current course, including hands-on patient care, simulation, and reflective practice, with the goal of producing deliverables that will be included in your end-of-program portfolio in MSNF 680. You will demonstrate reflective thinking that integrates knowledge, application, and critical thinking in relation to the APRN profession.

This assignment aligns with and maps to the AACN Essentials domains, with the rubric clearly indicating performance expectations (often observable behaviors) that are consistent with the competencies and sub-competencies. and providing program-level data for continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with your preceptor to track and document your progress in meeting these objectives in Weeks 18, while linking your experiences to The Essentials. The goal of this clinical experience is to ensure you can demonstrate how you’ve individually met course and program objectives related to this clinical course. You will use your documentation in the clinical tracking system (CORE ELMS) to demonstrate achievement of objectives.

This complex care practicum experience will allow you to demonstrate the fulfillment of the course and program objectives in your specialization. You may use your existing documentation in the clinical tracking system to show the achievement of these objectives. Additionally, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Review the focused course objectives with your clinical preceptor on a weekly basis.
  • Track and document your weekly clinical actions to demonstrate the fulfillment of course objectives.
  • Document objectives that are measurable, dated, and clearly reflect course learning outcomes being addressed.
  • Delete ALL protected health information.

Expectations

You will work one-on-one with your preceptor to achieve clinical objectives as outlined in the course. The faculty’s role is to oversee this process, ensuring that you review and meet the objectives.
