At some point, perhaps while you are taking this course, you may decide to purchase a computer. The decision is an important one and will require an investment of both time and money. Like many buyers, you may have little experience with technology and find yourself unsure of how to proceed. You can start by talking to your friends, coworkers, and instructors about their computers. What type of computer did they purchase? Why? For what purpose do they use their computer for? You may find it helpful to visit a retailer such as Walmart, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. and go through the decision making process with a salesperson. You can also use the internet sites www.dell.com, www.compaq.com, www.ibm.com, www.hp.com, www.acer.com, and others to assist you in making your choice. |
This assignment will assess your methodology in purchasing a computer, your rationale (the why) for choosing the computer and its components you choose. The assignment will address the appropriateness of your computer choice, the computer components chosen for the computer, application software and operating system chosen, input, output and storage devices chosen for your computer and the appropriate configuration for internet access and use. Your assignment must address each of the following items:
1. Describe in detail why you are purchasing a computer.
2. Describe the category of computer you are purchasing and why.
3. Describe whether or not you will need internet access capability and why.
4. Describe the application software you will purchase and why.
5. Describe the components of the system unit you will purchase and why.
6. Describe the input devices you will purchase and why.
7. Describe the output devices you will purchase and why.
8. Describe the storage devices you will purchase and why.
9. Describe the operating system and utility programs you will purchase and why…
Paper should be have a Title page
Paper should be double space.
Font should be 12pt.
