The Assignment
You will submit a 8-10 page argumentative research paper addressing a particular topic relevant to Christian social ethics. This final paper is intended to be flexible, allowing for your creative engagement and providing you an opportunity to extend your learning by putting the methodologies of Christian social ethics to work in ways that are immediately relevant to your life.
For the final paper, focus on the topic of gender inequality. Explore how Christian ethics should respond to discrimination against women in leadership roles, both in society and within the church. As part of the research, examine whether Christian teachings address liberation from gender inequality. Additionally, analyze whether the forms of inequality present in earlier time periods still exist today.
Choose two ethical methods (deontology, teleology, areteology, liberation ethics) with which to analyze your chosen topic
three (3) outside sources per method, which I had provided in the PDF attached. If more are needed, feel free to find primary sources that go with gender inequality
Search for scriptures. Gather and research the Christian scriptures related to the topic. Consider also relevant sources of tradition, reason, and experience (as applicable to your topic). USE THE: (USE THE NRSV VERSION FOR THE SCRIPTURES)
