  • Guided Reflection Leadership

Guided Reflection on EOPSLOs: Instructions. Limit to 1.5 – 2 pages. EOPSLOs: What They Mean The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) identifies 10 domains expected of BSN graduates. Within this document, the expectations of generalist nursing practice upon completion of a BSN program and includes practice-focused outcomes that integrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes. LSSC’s RN to BSN curriculum is grounded in these domains through the expectation that our graduates will achieve all five identified End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EOPSLOs), as well as the specific competencies associated with each. EOPSLOs: Why They Matter Achievement of LSSC’s EOPSLOs will enable graduates to practice within complex and diverse healthcare systems and to assume broader roles of care provider, designer/manager/coordinator of care, and member of a profession. Each student will assess his/her progress in meeting the End-of-Program Student Learning Outcomes (EOPSLOs) at the end of each NUR course in the program. In Capstone, the student will place all of the EOPSLOs in a major scholarly paper (Save your Guided Reflection from each course, to facilitate writing this summative self-evaluation.) EOPSLOs: How They Are Met Students are introduced to all five EOPSLOs in the first required course, NUR 3825 Professional Role Transition. The EOPSLOs are then reinforced throughout the remaining core courses and are emphasized in the last core course, NUR 4945L Nursing Capstone. In each course, students complete a maximum 1.5-2-page (excluding cover page and reference list), graded Guided Reflection assignment in which they reflect on how they are progressing toward achieving the identified EOPSLOs for the course. The EOPSLOs selected by the student should vary in each course, so that all five have been addressed at least once before taking NUR 4945L Nursing Capstone. It is highly recommended that students save these course papers, as they will be need to be uploaded into your e-portfolio as it showcases your achievement of the five RN-BSN EOPSLOs in NUR 4945L Nursing Capstone. For this course, you will speak to EOPSLO: #3 Analyze the concepts of nursing leadership and management in the ethical principles of professional nursing to promote safe and quality outcomes of wholistic care in various healthcare environments. The course Guided Reflection asks that you consider three things: 1) What the EOPSLOs selected mean to your nursing practice as it develops through the baccalaureate education process? 2) identify 2-course competencies (listed in your syllabus) and skills you will need to achieve the selected EOPSLOs; and, 3) discuss 2 specific graded assignments or discussions in the course that helped you to move forward in developing the identified competencies associated with EACH of the selected EOPSLOs.

    • The Nursing Process Worksheets assignment is a critical component of each clinical day. (One per Week)Students will select a patient of interest and complete the designated form provided on Canvas. This form includes sections reflecting the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, along with areas for documenting subjective and objective patient information. Additionally, the form contains reflective questions to encourage students to analyze their clinical experiences and enhance their critical thinking and self-awareness. Important Reminder: Students must ensure that no patient personal identifiers (e.g., names, medical record numbers, or other identifiable information) are included in their submissions to comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Any violation of HIPAA guidelines will result in appropriate disciplinary actions. The completed worksheet must be submitted via Canvas before the next clinical day. The purpose of this assignment is to integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, foster the development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning, and promote reflective learning to support professional growth and effective patient care.

  • Guided Reflection

Guided reflections give you the chance to pause and think about how your learning connects to real nursing practice. They are designed to help you see the bigger picturehow the skills and values youve built in this course link to the programs overall learning outcomes and prepare you to deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based care. Each reflection also ties directly to course competencies which serve as the building blocks for your growth as a nurse. By completing this reflection, youll show not only what youve learned but also how youre ready to apply it in your future practice. Purpose The purpose of this reflection is to connect your course learning to the larger goals of the nursing program. It helps you demonstrate how you are meeting program outcomes and practicing essential competencies that prepare you for professional BSN nursing. **NUR 3678 has three (3) End of Program Learning Outcomes (EOPSLO): Choose a minimum of one (1)** EOPSLO #1: Synthesize knowledge from nursing science and liberal studies to apply critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills that improve nursing care of individuals, families, and communities through the life span. EOPSLO #2: Incorporate effective interprofessional and collaboration skills to provide safe, nursing care that promotes patient preferences, mutual respect and improved health and outcomes. EOPSLO # 5: Integrate nursing research, theory and trends related to nursing practice that promotes health and provides access to healthcare for diverse populations. **NUR 3678 Course Competencies: Choose three (3) of these competencies** 1. Assess factors contributing to the vulnerability of individuals and populations. 2. Integrate nursing research and relevant theoretical frameworks to guide evidenced-based care for vulnerable populations. 3. Analyze the allocation, availability, and access to resources needed by vulnerable individuals, their families, and communities. 4. Examine policies that respond to the needs of vulnerable populations. 5. Select care strategies that promote positive health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Assignment Brief For this learning activity, you will be using various technology and media techniques to develop your guided reflection initial discussion post. You have the choice to complete this assignment in any one of the formats listed below. 1) Create a narrated powerpoint presentation (5 slides minimum and 10 slides maximum, excluding a title page and reference slide, so your presentation will be between 7 – 12 slides in total) 2) OR a short video (between 5 – 7 minutes maximum) using Kaltura, Screen-Cast-O-Matic, etc. Additionally, Microsoft Office is available at no cost through the college, which has powerpoint presentation templates as well. If you choose to record a video instead of a narrated powerpoint, please include a typed outline with APA-formatted references. Be as creative as you like! 3) or a minimum four (4) page written reflection that includes a title and reference page. All submissions must include the following: a) In 1-3 sentences, explain what the identified EOPSLO means to your nursing practice as it pertains to this class. b) Identify and explain three (3) of the course learning outcomes/competencies and how they have contributed to your achievement of the identified EOPSLO in this course. c) Discuss the CORE assignments in this course that have contributed to your professional development as a bachelor’s prepared nurse. *For effective power points, remember this tip of Rule of 6’s – one idea per slide, only 6 bullet points per slide, with no more than 6 words per bullet point. This helps to keep your presentation organized, and concise and your audience interested in what you have to say instead of listening to you read directly from the slide. Submit the Guided Reflection to the designated dropbox by Wednesday, Feb. 25, 11:59pm. Additionally, remember that the EOPSLO information has to come from somewhere, so consider the source and include an in-text citation as well as a reference citation (hint, hint)…..
