Furthermore, the overall quality of the report, reflecting the effectiveness of group collaboration, will be assessed with a separate grade of 10 marks.

Task

You have been hired as marketing consultants to advise the company on strategic decisions and recommendations based on their current business environment (analysed in Assessment 2). This assessment builds upon your individual environmental analysis and culminates in a comprehensive strategic marketing plan.

Requirements

You will submit your strategic marketing recommendations as a report, which should consist of the following four sections:

1. Updated SWOT analysis

Leveraging the environmental analysis conducted in Assessment 2, collaboratively develop a thorough and updated SWOT analysis. This updated SWOT should reflect the current state of the business as portrayed in the case study.

2. Establish a strategic focus

Based on the insights derived from the SWOT analysis, define a clear and concise strategic focus for the company. This focus should articulate the overall direction the company should pursue to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate threats. Justify your selection with direct references to the SWOT analysis.

3. Strategic marketing recommendations

Develop a set of strategic marketing recommendations that are directly aligned with the chosen strategic focus. These recommendations should be comprehensive and address key marketing areas, including:

  • Target Market: Define the specific target market(s) the company should prioritize, justifying your choices based on market research and the SWOT analysis. Consider segmentation strategies and how the target market aligns with the strategic focus.
  • Marketing Mix (4Ps or 7Ps, depending on the case study): Develop a detailed marketing mix strategy. Each element of the mix should be consistent with the strategic focus and target market, and clearly explain how it addresses a specific opportunity or mitigates a threat identified in the SWOT. For example, if a weakness is low brand awareness, the promotion strategy should directly address this.
  • Competitive Advantage: Explain how the proposed marketing strategies create and sustain a competitive advantage for the company. What makes the companys offering unique and valuable to the target market? How will this advantage be maintained in the face of competition?

4. Implementation plan

Briefly outline a plan for implementing the recommended strategies, including key activities, timelines, and responsible parties. This demonstrates the practicality of your recommendations.
