Occupational safety and health professionals have to deal with not only the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) sciences but also many of the social sciences if they want to be successful. In this discussion forum, imagine that you are speaking with the senior leadership team of your Fortune 100 company. These leaders are the best at what they do, but they do not understand safety, and they think that they would have fewer incidents if their workers would pay attention more. Explain the high points of human error, and identify what you would have to do to get them to stop blaming the worker and look at the overall system.

    DISCUSSION #4: WHEN PARENTING CALLS

Parents around the world are faced with challenges each day to balance work, life and family duties.

Fathers around the world also are faced with the everyday chores of keeping up the demands of being a father, and often this can be challenging in today’s society. Student Parents today are faced with tasks each day that require support from their families, their friends and often their professors.

Review the link below and examine how the support of this young man’s professor helped him pass his examination when his parenting duty called for him to do both at the same time. Write a 1 page Reflection Paper after reviewing this video clip. Think about your own experiences or that of your own family members who sacrifice each day to keep their families in tact no matter the consequences. List two (2) examples of how you feel this could have gone wrong for the student had the professor not helped him as a student parent. What would have been the consequences of that decision or had he decided to miss his exam in Professor Nathan Alexander’s course due to his parenting duties. Give careful thought about what and how you would handle this situation and discuss it from a family perspective. Below is an example of a professor holding a student parent’s baby while teaching. Explain in details your thoughts and be sure to list references (in APA format) to support your opinion.

Authorities are working diligently to get an answer to the question we are all asking how did this happen? We are also working to ensure the child receives the supports and services he needs as we continue to process what took place, Jones said.

  • Trauma Treatment Plan

Students will write a 5-7 page treatment plan of a client from a movie, book, or documentary film in APA format. Students must address the following prompts in their papers:

    • Identify and prioritize problems to address with the client in treatment.
    • Identify potential players on the treatment team and assign roles.
    • Use the trauma assessment tool to identify the appropriate phase of intervention to begin treatment.
    • Identify potential solutions to the problem and articulate descriptions for solution planning.
    • Identify and address potential strengths and barriers to solutions.
    • Identify potential traumatic reminders/stressors

All parts of this assignment need to be based on the TST treatment method, therefore I have provided you with the exact locations in Saxe, G., Ellis, B.H. & Brown, A. (2015). Trauma systems therapy for children and teens. to assist you in completing each section and they are attached below. Students must address the following prompts in their papers:

    1. Identify and prioritize problems to address with the client in treatment. This section needs to be developed according to the TST Priority Problem Worksheet tool. See p.194 and 195.
    2. Identify potential players on the treatment team and assign roles.
    3. Use the trauma assessment tool to identify the appropriate phase of intervention to begin treatment. This section needs to be based on the TST Treatment Planning Grid tool. See p. 204 and 205.
    4. Identify potential solutions to the problem and articulate descriptions for solution planning. Based on the phase of intervention for your client, your potential solutions will be based on either Safety Focused Treatment, Regulation Focused Treatment, or Beyond Trauma Treatment. See Chapters 12, 13, 14, respectively.
    5. Identify and address potential strengths and barriers to solutions. See p.208 for identifying strengths and p. 209 for identifying potential challenges according to TST.
    6. Identify potential traumatic reminders/stressors. Based on the Moment by Moment Assessment, p. 153.

Finally, as a source of guidance for the structure and writing style of this assignment, attached is a sample paper below.

As you begin preparing for your Trauma Treatment Plan, one of the most important skills you will need is the ability to match interventions to the correct phase of treatment within the Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) model.

To support you with this, I have provided a TST Intervention Bank. This is a resource you should be using as you begin thinking through your final assignment.

However, simply having a list of interventions is not enough. As clinicians, your role is to make intentional, phase-based decisions about what should happen in treatment and why.

In this section of the treatment plan you are expected to do the following:

    • In your own words, briefly describe the goal of this phase of treatment.
    • Select 23 interventions from the Intervention Bank that align with this phase.
    • For each intervention:
      • Explain why it fits this phase
      • Describe what problem it is addressing
      • Identify who would carry out the intervention (e.g., therapist, caregiver, school, etc.)
      • Give a brief example (real or hypothetical) of what this intervention might look like in practice.

This section ties it all together and demonstrates your clinical understanding of the client and should provide clarity on the purpose of the interventions and how you determined the choices you made.

    Rubric:

The Student will identify and prioritize the most important problems to address in treatment with the traumatized youth. Students should prioritize at least 4 problems to address and provide a rationale for why they have chosen these problems.

The student will identify key individuals who will take part in the treatment plan. Students will assign roles to each “player” on the team and provide a rationale explaining why they have chosen the individual to take part in the treatment team and why they have been assigned specific roles.

Students will use the trauma assessment tool to identify where they will begin their intervention will clients. Students will provide a rationale for the factors that they considered in making the determination.

Students will identify the solutions to the problems addressed in the treatment plan. Students will provide a thorough description of the solution and make strong links explaining how each solution addresses the problem identified.

Students will identify the key interpersonal and environmental strengths and barriers that will be incorporated into the treatment plan. Students must provide a strong rationale for why they view these as strengths or barriers.

Students will create a list of potential traumatic reminders/stressors and provide a strong rationale for why they have identified each potential reminder/stressor.

    Rubric:
